The Power of Partnerships in Business

A Story from PPC

By: Greg Modd

Running a business is not a solo endeavor. Even when you own 100% of it, as I do with Penultimate People Consulting (PPC), success doesn't come from individual effort alone. It takes a network of trusted partners who help steer the ship in the right direction, provide critical support, and challenge you to grow, learn, and meet new people.

Over the years, I've learned the immense value of surrounding myself with the right people. These partners aren't just business associates; they're vital components of PPC's success story. I want to introduce you to four people who have played roles in our journey. ⛰️

Jacob Canter: The Recruitment Maestro 📲

Jacob Canter, my recruiting partner, is a wizard when it comes to finding the right talent. We met in Bunker Labs. I'm a 19 Bravo, and he was a City Lead. I have much love for the Veterans out there helping Veterans. In today's competitive job market, sourcing the best candidates requires expertise and a deep understanding of the industry and each client's unique needs. Jacob brings all that to the table and more. His ability to identify and attract top talent ensures that PPC clients are matched with individuals who fit the job and align with the culture and values of the company. Jacob's work profoundly impacts the clients we serve, and his partnership is invaluable. He owns Scout HR Services and brings a strategic and personalized approach to talent acquisition. His deep understanding of industry trends and commitment to finding the perfect cultural fit ensures that each hire adds long-term value to our clients. With a focus on both the art and science of recruiting, Jacob excels in aligning the right talent with the right opportunities, making him an indispensable part of PPC's success story.

Angela Mitchell: The Benefits Architect 🌉

Through her company, Bridged Benefit Solutions, Angela Mitchell focuses on bridging the gap between a company's investment in employee benefits and the employees' understanding of them. We met through a mutual connection, Lily Palaj, who I adore! Angela tailors benefit solutions to meet each organization's unique needs, ensuring that employees maximize their benefits and employers see a return on their investment. Her approach combines education, strategic planning, and personalized support, making her a vital partner for any business looking to enhance its employee benefits offerings. Angela is chockful of integrity, a straight shooter, and concerned with clients' overall health. Her passion and purpose make her an exceptional partner, making her a crucial part of PPC's success story.

James Reid: The Legal Eagle 🧑‍⚖️

Every business needs a good lawyer, but James Reid is more than just a legal advisor; he's a strategic partner. I've been friends with Jimmy since BACK IN THE DAY! Navigating the complex legal landscape of HR and business law requires expertise and foresight. James ensures that PPC and our clients are always on the right side of the law, helping us mitigate risks and make informed decisions. From contracts to compliance, his guidance is critical in ensuring that PPC operates smoothly and securely. With James in our corner, we can focus on what we do best—helping people thrive.

Tim Sackett: The Mentor Extraordinaire 👑

No journey is complete without a mentor, and I'm fortunate to have Tim Sackett as mine. Even if he doesn't own me as a mentee 🤣 Tim has over 20 years of HR experience and owns HRU Technical Resources, Inc. His wisdom, insight, and encouragement have been instrumental in shaping PPC’s growth and mine. Whether refining our business strategies, exploring new opportunities #DisruptHRA2, or simply offering a listening ear, Tim’s mentorship has been a cornerstone of our success. His influence has helped PPC evolve into the robust and resilient business it is today.

The Takeaway: Partnership is Key 🤝

In business, no one succeeds alone. PPC's success is a testament to the power of partnership. Jacob, Angela, James, and Tim have each played a crucial role in our journey, and I’m grateful to have them as part of the PPC partnerships. Their expertise, support, and dedication allow us to continue delivering services to our clients and driving growth in the ever-evolving world of HR.

If there's one lesson I've learned, it's this: Surround yourself with the right people, and success will follow.
